Ameesha Patel is a prominent Indian actress and model best known for her work in Hindi cinema, along with a few Tamil and Telugu films. She was born on June 9, 1976, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a well-educated and affluent Gujarati family. Her father, Amit Patel, is a businessman, and her mother, Asha Patel, has been a prominent socialite. Ameesha comes from a lineage deeply connected to Indian academia and politics—her grandfather, Rajni Patel, was a famous lawyer and politician, once serving as the President of the Congress Pradesh Committee in Mumbai.

Ameesha Patel completed her early education at Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and later pursued further studies abroad. She graduated with a degree in Economics from Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA. During her time in college, she also trained in Bharatanatyam, which laid the foundation for her future performances in Indian cinema.

Her Bollywood debut came in the year 2000 with “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”, opposite Hrithik Roshan. The film was a massive blockbuster and turned both lead actors into overnight stars. Her performance received widespread acclaim and marked the beginning of a successful career. She followed this with “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” (2001), one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema history, where she starred opposite Sunny Deol.
