Anushka Shetty

Anushka Shetty, born as Sweety Shetty on November 7, 1981, in Mangalore, Karnataka, is one of the most celebrated actresses in South Indian cinema. Known for her grace, powerful screen presence, and versatility, Anushka has carved a niche for herself in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. Coming from a Tulu-speaking family, she pursued her early education in Bangalore and later graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from Mount Carmel College. Before entering the film world, she also worked as a yoga instructor under the guidance of Bharat Thakur, which played a significant role in shaping her disciplined lifestyle and calm demeanor.

Anushka made her acting debut in 2005 with the Telugu film “Super”, directed by Puri Jagannadh. Though her role was relatively small, it garnered attention and paved the way for more substantial opportunities. Her breakthrough came with “Vikramarkudu” (2006) opposite Ravi Teja, a commercial success that made her a recognizable name. However, it was her role as Devasena in SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali series (2015–2017) that brought her pan-Indian recognition and international fame. Her portrayal of the fierce yet graceful warrior queen resonated with audiences across the country and remains one of her most iconic roles to date.

Apart from Baahubali, her other critically acclaimed and commercially successful films include “Rudhramadevi” (2015), “Size Zero” (2015), “Bhaagamathie” (2018), and “Nishabdham” (2020). Known for taking on strong and unconventional roles, Anushka has managed to strike a balance between glamour and substance.
