Meera Jasmine

Meera Jasmine, born as Jasmine Mary Joseph on February 15, 1982, in Thiruvalla, Kerala, is a renowned Indian actress who primarily works in Malayalam cinema but has also made significant contributions to Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. Known for her expressive eyes, natural acting, and strong screen presence, Meera has been a part of the South Indian film industry since the early 2000s. She hails from a Syrian Christian family and was the fourth of five children. Though initially inclined toward academics, her destiny took a cinematic turn when she was spotted by director Blessy during her college days, leading to her first break in films.

Meera made her acting debut in 2001 with the Malayalam film Soothradharan, opposite Dileep. However, it was her performance in the critically acclaimed Tamil film Run (2002), opposite Madhavan, that brought her pan-South Indian fame. Her portrayal of strong, layered female characters won both audience admiration and critical appreciation. Over the years, Meera delivered numerous memorable performances in movies such as Kasthooriman, Padam Onnu Oru Vilapam, Perumazhakkalam, and Achuvinte Amma. Her role in Padam Onnu Oru Vilapam won her the National Film Award for Best Actress in 2004, cementing her place among the finest actors of her generation.

Though she has kept her personal life largely private, she married Anil John Titus, a Dubai-based engineer, in 2014. After a sabbatical, she made a return to Malayalam cinema with the 2022 film Makal, directed by Sathyan Anthikad, reaffirming her talent and the timeless appeal she holds with audiences. Meera continues to be a symbol of grace, talent, and resilience in the ever-evolving world of Indian cinema.
