Nimrat Kaur is a critically acclaimed Indian actress known for her powerful performances in both Indian and international cinema. Born on March 13, 1982, in Pilani, Rajasthan, Nimrat was raised in an Army background, which exposed her to a disciplined and culturally diverse lifestyle. After her father, an Indian Army officer, was tragically abducted and killed by terrorists in Kashmir in 1994, the family moved to Delhi, where she completed her schooling at Delhi Public School, Noida. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University. Initially starting her career in print modeling and theater, Nimrat gradually transitioned into television advertisements, gaining popularity and respect for her expressive features and subtle screen presence.

Her big break came with the internationally celebrated film “The Lunchbox” (2013), opposite Irrfan Khan, which not only won critical acclaim worldwide but also established her as a serious performer in the industry. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and received standing ovations.
