Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, popularly known as Prabhas, is a renowned Indian actor who has carved a unique niche for himself in Telugu cinema and gained pan-India fame with his extraordinary performances. Born on October 23, 1979, in Chennai, India, Prabhas is the son of the late film producer Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju and Siva Kumari. He grew up in Hyderabad and completed his schooling at DNR School, Bhimavaram, followed by a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from Sri Chaitanya College, Hyderabad. Prabhas always had a passion for cinema but initially aspired to become a businessman before his family legacy in the film industry steered him toward acting.

He made his acting debut in 2002 with the film “Eeswar,” which introduced him as a promising young talent in Tollywood. His breakthrough came in 2004 with “Varsham,” where his performance as a romantic hero earned him widespread acclaim. Over the years, Prabhas established himself as one of Telugu cinema’s most bankable stars, delivering hits like Chatrapathi (2005), Billa (2009), and Darling (2010). Playing the dual roles of Amarendra Baahubali and Mahendra Baahubali, Prabhas delivered a performance of a lifetime. The films shattered box office records across India and internationally, making Prabhas a household name and one of India’s most popular film stars. He reportedly dedicated nearly five years exclusively to the Baahubali franchise, a testament to his commitment to his craft.

Following the Baahubali phenomenon, Prabhas continued to explore diverse genres. His 2019 action-thriller “Saaho” was a multi-lingual film aimed at a pan-Indian audience, further cementing his appeal beyond the Telugu-speaking states. Despite mixed reviews, Saaho showcased his star power at the box office. He later appeared in romantic drama “Radhe Shyam” (2022) and is involved in several upcoming high-profile projects, including Kalki 2898 AD, which promises to blend sci-fi with mythology, demonstrating his willingness to experiment with new narratives.
