Raveena Tandon

Raveena Tandon (born 26 October 1972 in Bombay, now Mumbai) is a celebrated Indian actress whose career has spanned over three decades. The daughter of director Ravi Tandon, she made her acting debut in the 1991 action film Patthar Ke Phool, earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut She rose to prominence through a string of commercially successful 1990s films such as Dilwale, Mohra, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, and Ziddi, and earned acclaim for her performances in comedies like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Dulhe Raja, and Anari No. 1, often paired with Govinda

Transitioning into more serious roles in the early 2000s, Raveena earned critical acclaim for her roles in Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001), winning the National Film Award for Best Actress, and Aks (2001), which earned her the Filmfare Special Performance Award  After marrying film distributor Anil Thadani in 2004, she took a break from the film industry, turning her attention to television with shows like Sahib Biwi Gulam (2004), Chak De Bachche (2008), and Simply Baatien with Raveena (2014)

Raveena made a remarkable return to acting with the thriller Maatr (2017) and gained widespread praise for her lead role in Netflix’s crime drama Aranyak (2021), winning the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress. She also appeared in the blockbuster K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022) . In 2023, she was honored with the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards, recognizing her contributions to the arts

Recently, Raveena announced her return to Tamil cinema after a 24-year hiatus with the upcoming courtroom drama Lawyer, co-starring Vijay Antony. Her last appearances in Kollywood were in Saadhu (1994) and Aalavandhan (2001) . Beyond her screen presence, she shared a moving personal experience: during a low point in her life, she stopped near a slum and saw children dancing joyfully in the rain, which gave her a profound lesson in gratitude and resilience . She also revealed that her original passion was to become a director like her father—not an actress.
