Shantanu Maheshwari

Shantanu Maheshwari is a multifaceted Indian actor, dancer, choreographer, and host who rose to fame with his debut as Swayam Shekhawat in the hit youth television series Dil Dosti Dance (2011–2015). Born on March 7, 1991, in Kolkata, West Bengal, Shantanu discovered his love for dance at a young age. He pursued his schooling at St. Joseph’s College, Kolkata, and later moved to Mumbai to study at the prestigious HR College of Commerce and Economics. It was during this time that he joined the dance crew “Desi Hoppers,” which later became pivotal in his career.

Shantanu’s breakthrough came not just through acting but also through his exceptional dancing skills. While Dil Dosti Dance made him a household name among Indian youth, it was his participation in reality shows that showcased his versatility and dedication. In 2015, Shantanu led Desi Hoppers to victory at the World of Dance Championship in Los Angeles, making them the first Indian crew to win the global competition. His unique fusion of Indian style with Western dance forms earned him critical acclaim and a massive fan following.

In 2016, he participated in the reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9, where his breathtaking performances earned him a spot among the finalists. A year later, he wowed audiences once again in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, finishing as the second runner-up and showcasing his courage and determination beyond the dance floor. His hosting skills were also highlighted in India’s Best Dramebaaz Season 3, where his charisma and rapport with contestants and co-hosts were well-received.

Shantanu took a significant step into Bollywood with his film debut opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), where he played the role of Afshan Razak. His performance was subtle yet impactful, earning praise for holding his ground in a film led by a powerhouse performer like Alia. He portrayed his character with a restrained charm and sensitivity that won him accolades from critics and audiences alike.
