Trisha Krishnan

Trisha Krishnan (born 4 May 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu) is one of the most iconic and enduring actresses of South Indian cinema, primarily known for her impactful work in Tamil and Telugu films. Born to Krishnan Iyer and Uma Iyer, she spent part of her childhood in New York but completed her schooling at Sacred Heart Matriculation School, Chennai, followed by a BBA from Ethiraj College for Women. Her journey to stardom began as a model, winning Miss Salem and Miss Chennai in 1999, and earning the “Beautiful Smile” subtitle at Miss India 2001.

Trisha debuted on screen with a small supporting role in the Tamil film Jodi (1999), but her breakthrough came in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) in a lead role. Throughout the 2000s, she ascended to stardom with box office hits like Saamy (2003), Ghilli (2004), and Varsham (2004), picking up multiple Filmfare Awards South and a Nandi Award . Her versatility shone through acclaimed performances in Abhiyum Naanum (2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), ’96 (2018), and in historical epics Ponniyin Selvan: I & II (2022–23), and gritty thrillers like Yennai Arindhaal and Thug Life.

Branching into other languages, she made her Hindi debut with Khatta Meetha (2010), Kannada debut with Power (2014), and Malayalam debut with Hey Jude (2018) .More recently, Trisha’s foray into digital platforms with the crime thriller series Brinda (SonyLIV, 2024) was met with praise.

Off-screen, Trisha is known for her philanthropic efforts—affiliating with UNICEF and PETA—and her personal life includes a brief engagement to Varun Manian in 2015, and a rumored relationship with actor Rana Daggubati. Despite being one of South India’s highest-paid actresses and a celebrated public figure, she remains private and unmarried as of 2025.
